Exhibit 4.5: Professional development plan that measures growth over time

Title of Exhibit
Exhibit 4.5 Professional Growth Plan
Domain Outcome #(4.0)
Candidates manage their continued learning and professional development through continuous reflection about their teaching knowledge, dispositions, skills, and practices.
M.Ed. Domain Indicator #(4.5)
The candidate uses research and resources to construct and implement a personalized, professional growth plan that continually measures individual growth and that chronicles his/her professional achievements over time.
Rationale
This exhibit demonstrates my proficiency in managing continued learning and professional development through continuous reflection about teaching knowledge, dispositions, skills, and practices. During the EDU 565 workshop, I created a Professional Growth Plan (PGP) based on NBPTS standards, and incorporated Morrison Academy curriculum standards into that plan. The development and implementation of the rationale and goals portion of the PGP shows evidence of research and use of resources, while the rubric and timeline portion lays out the form and schedule for implementation and continuous improvement. Gardner (2006) describes the good teacher as one who is in the process of learning and applying theory and practice based on current research.
Self-Evaluation and Reflection
Development of the PGP provided me with an effective road map for achieving curriculum objectives and professional development guidance for the implementation of the unit. It also clarified my understanding of teaching knowledge, dispositions, skills, and practices.
How verified
Dr. Decker, the professor for EDU 565, can verify the authenticity of the artifacts.
