Exhibit 4.t: Engages learners in utilizing technology for research

Title of Exhibit
Students Utilizing Technology for Research
Domain Outcome #(4.0)
Candidates manage their continued learning and professional development through continuous reflection about their teaching knowledge, dispositions, skills, and practices.
M.Ed. Domain Indicator #(4.t)
The candidate engages learners in utilizing technology for project-based research and collaborative learning activities.
Rationale
I demonstrate continued learning and professional development through engaging learners in utilizing technology for project-based research and collaborative learning activities, evidenced in student group production of a PowerPoint presentation incorporating online research and collaborative learning. Britt, Brasher, and Davenport (2007) assert that when good pedagogy is the main focus of a teacher, technology is then a tool that assists instruction. They add that learning increases with the increased use of technology.
Self-Evaluation and Reflection
I used these history PowerPoints as a way for students to work together to outline facts from the history text and to enrich those facts using research from online resources. Students, as usual, responded well to the integration of technology, and they appreciate the visual quality of PowerPoint.
